It is that time again to begin gathering info for your taxes. I have added the Kansas
and IRS
web sites on the right side of our page under Helpful Links. This year both entities are no longer sending out paper forms, all forms are found on their web sites. You may print out these forms at the library for 10 cents a page.

Today let’s look at another one of our FREE databases. Today we will look at Chilton’s Auto Repair. This is provided free for the people in the state of Kansas sponsored by the Kansas State Library, KAN-ED, Kansas Regents Libraries, the Johnson County Library, the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, and Olathe Public Library. (You may go to the link by clicking on the name)
You may remember Chilton’s as those huge books libraries owned that you could look up all the schematics for maintenance and repair of your automoblies. This site has quick online access to repair, maintenance and service information on the most popular cars, trucks, vans and SUVs on the road today. This site is easy to navigate even for those of us who know nothing of mechanics. There are drop down boxes on the left of the screen to enter your year, make and model.
This is found to the right of the website under LINKS, DATABASES, and then under Databases – State Library. Come visit us, online or in person, we have the information you need.

I am going to try to highlight the Databases we have access to here in Kansas. Some are sponsored by the Kansas State Library, KAN-ED, Kansas Regents Libraries, the Johnson County Library, the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, and Olathe Public Library, and some will be provided for everyone. Today we will highlight Medline Plus and Kansas Health Online. (You may go to the link by clicking on the name)
First Medline Plus, this is a free website that is provided by the US National Library of Medicine. This is a great place to look to research diseases and to catch up on new and innovative medical procedures. They have current Health News, Spotlighted info, Senior Health Info, Clinical Trials, Interactive Tutorials, Drugs & Supplements and more. The articles are easy to read and the site is very user friendly.
Next we will look at Kansas Health Online this is sponsored by the Kansas State Library, KAN-ED, Kansas Regents Libraries, the Johnson County Library, the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, and Olathe Public Library. This site has tools to help you compare hospitals, find doctors and also gives you information about healthy lifestyles and helping you to make healthy choices. You’ll find quality information and news about medical conditions, health insurance, and health care policy.
These databases can be found at the right of our page under the LINKS items, then go to DATABASES and they are listed there. Come to the library for your health information.
